Hyderabad, Mar 20 (Maxim News):The Governing Council of the Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies Hyderabad held its meeting on Friday at Osmania University. The meeting took place at the EC Room on the university campus.
Council members reviewed progress of ongoing projects. They also discussed future plans of RCUES Hyderabad. Several new proposals received approval during the meeting.
The discussions focused on urban sustainability and environmental management. Members also reviewed capacity building programmes. These initiatives aim to strengthen urban governance systems.
The Vice Chancellor of Osmania University chaired the meeting. He appreciated the work of RCUES Hyderabad. He praised its efforts in conducting training programmes for urban officials.
During the meeting, he highlighted a recent achievement. RCUES Hyderabad received a two star accreditation from the Capacity Building Commission. This recognition reflects the institution’s training standards.
RCUES Hyderabad plans expansion of training and research programmes
The Vice Chancellor said RCUES will expand its activities in the 2026 27 academic year. More outreach programmes will take place with partner institutions. These efforts aim to improve knowledge sharing.
Apart from training, RCUES will also focus on research. The centre plans conferences and workshops. These programmes will cover urban development and disaster management.
Officials from several institutions attended the meeting. Sanjay Singh from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs participated. Representatives from RCUES Mumbai also joined the discussions.
Officials from the Commissionerate of Municipal Administration Tamil Nadu attended. Senior academician Professor V Ramesh Kumar also took part. Their participation added technical inputs.
Senior Professor B Srinagesh, Director of RCUES Hyderabad, convened the meeting. He coordinated the agenda and presentations. Officials said the meeting helped set priorities for the coming year. (Maxim News)
