Hyderabad, Oct. 1: Danam Nagender alleged that assistant electoral registration officers and other officials were colluding with the BJP to remove voters’ names. However, these allegations have not been independently verified.
He said he would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission and seek criminal action against officials allegedly involved in the deletions.
He also claimed that genuine voters who participated in previous elections had been removed from the electoral rolls. Therefore, he demanded a review of the deleted entries and restoration of eligible voters.
Nagender said protecting voters’ rights was essential. He also questioned the need for repeated concerns raised by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
His remarks come amid controversy over electoral roll revisions and allegations of voter deletions in several states. The Election Commission has said electoral roll changes must follow established legal procedures.
