Hyderabad, May 2 (Maxim News): Santoshnagar Traffic Police intensified drunk driving enforcement with surprise daytime checks at key junctions. The drives targeted high risk vehicle operators to improve road safety.
The enforcement took place at IS Sadan Junction and DMRL Junction under senior traffic officials’ directives. Police teams focused on drivers of water tankers, school buses, autos, and ambulances. Therefore, the initiative aimed to protect students and daily commuters.
Officials said the department has expanded checks beyond night hours. Now, traffic police conduct strict inspections during daytime across major junctions. As a result, authorities seek to curb violations at all hours.
Daytime drunk driving checks target high risk drivers
During the drive, police booked offenders found driving under the influence of alcohol. They produced all violators before the court. Meanwhile, courts imposed strict punishments, including jail terms ranging from two to fifteen days.
According to official data, 27 offenders have already been convicted this year in the Santoshnagar jurisdiction. Consequently, authorities have reinforced zero tolerance toward drunk driving.
Inspector Mohammad Asif stated that drunk driving poses a serious threat to public safety. He stressed that strict enforcement will continue without exception. Moreover, he urged motorists to follow traffic rules and act responsibly.
Police said such drives will continue regularly. In addition, they plan to increase monitoring at busy intersections. This approach aims to reduce accidents and ensure safer roads.

Authorities also appealed to the public to cooperate with enforcement teams. They advised drivers to avoid alcohol before driving. Overall, the initiative reflects Hyderabad Traffic Police’s commitment to road safety and strict law enforcement.
