Hyderabad, May 2 (Maxim News): Hyderabad CP Sajjanar felicitated a father son duo for exposing an illegal gas refilling racket in the city. The police honoured them with a cash reward and appreciation certificate for their alert action.
VC Sajjanar praised Ashok Tiwari and his son Naman Tiwari during a ceremony held at the TGICCC in Banjara Hills. He commended their courage in uncovering the malpractice affecting common consumers.
The incident began when Ashok Tiwari, a trader from Chudi Bazaar, booked a gas cylinder last month.
However, his 16 year old son noticed a weight discrepancy during delivery. Therefore, they checked the cylinder and found it weighed only 28 kg instead of the standard 30.4 kg.

Earlier too, the family suspected irregularities as the gas depleted quickly. As a result, they questioned the delivery agency representatives. When they received rude responses, they investigated further.
Subsequently, they discovered that the agency staff illegally refilled domestic cylinders into smaller commercial ones at a house in Jummerat Bazaar. Moreover, the activity posed serious safety risks in a crowded locality.
The duo immediately approached Hyderabad City Police and filed a complaint at Goshamahal Police Station. Following this, police registered a case and launched an operation.
Police arrested five accused including Sai Kumar, Vineeth Kumar, Pusa Ganesh, Praveen Kumar, and Amit Kumar. They also seized two commercial cylinders, seven domestic cylinders, and twelve small cylinders along with refilling equipment.

Meanwhile, CP Sajjanar said the duo acted like “police without uniform.” He added that such civic responsibility helps curb illegal activities. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant about product quality and quantity.
Furthermore, he warned that strict action will continue against illegal gas refilling operations. Citizens have been advised to report suspicious activities by dialling 100 or contacting local police. (Maxim News)
