New Delhi, July 30: Delhi Police have issued notices to social media platform X, directing it to remove posts and URLs that officials said contained objectionable content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and constitutional authorities during the recent Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests.
Police said the action is part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of social media and the circulation of content that could create public unrest.
According to Delhi Police, authorities identified 6,996 social media accounts linked to the circulation of the disputed content. The notices ask X to block access to the identified posts and preserve user details, including account information and login records, for the investigation.
Officials said legal proceedings are underway against those allegedly involved in creating or sharing the content.
Rumors are circulating on social media alleging that Jantar Mantar has been locked or closed for protests. These claims are entirely false, misleading, and devoid of facts.

The police stated that cases have been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections relating to criminal intimidation, acts alleged to promote public disorder, and defamation.
Separately, Delhi Police rejected social media claims that a person sustained a gunshot injury during the July 20 protests in central Delhi.
According to the police, the medico legal case (MLC) report did not indicate any gunshot injury. The department described the circulating claim as false and urged the public not to share unverified information.
