DGMS (Army) visits Military Hospital Secunderabad
Secunderabad, Feb’ 22 (Maxim News): Lieutenant General Velu Nair, Director General Medical Services (Army) and Colonel Commandant of Army Medical Corps visited Military Hospital Secunderabad here on Wednesday.
During his visit the General Officer spoke about the relevance of communication and soft skills in military hospitals. He stressed on the need for the staff to empathise with the patients and their family members. He urged that a series of workshops on Soft Skills needs to be conducted for all the medical and nursing staff to provide state of the art Comprehensive Medical Care to the Dependent clientele.
He is an avid researcher with interests in tropical medicine, Haematological malignancies and stem cell transplantation. He has pioneered research on stem cell and thrombosis in high altitude. He was Co-Chairperson of Task Force for ‘Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine’ of Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and member of various important National agencies including ICMR, DBT and DRDO connected with research on Stem Cells, Haematological disorders and Military medicine.
He is a Hematologist of International repute and a highly regarded teacher and is also an examiner at the post-doctoral level. He is a Fellow & Member of the prestigious Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), American College of Physicians (FACP), National Academy of Medical Science (FAMS) and Indian College of Physicians (FICP).
