DRI Sleuths Seize 1.5 kg Cannabis

Hyderabad, March 15 (Maxim News): Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) from Hyderabad Zonal Unit seized 1554 kilograms of Cannabis ( Ganja) on Sunday. In a press release, the authorities have said that The value of the seized ganja in the grey market would be around Rs 3,10,81,400. The officers of the DRI launched an operation and intercepted Eicher truck (TS 12UC 5662) and car (AP 29AB 7351), which was piloting the truck proceeding from Ramoji Film city towards LB Nagar, on March 14 afternoon.

On inspection by the sleuths, it was found that the vehicle was loaded with empty crates with some bags concealed under the crates emanating strong odour. On questioning, the persons travelling in the truck confessed that the concealed material was Ganja. The officers found and recovered 1554 Kgs of Cannabis. The said narcotic drug was found packed in 751 packets which were concealed under empty crates.

The contraband was sourced in Mothugudem village and was carried to Bhadrachalam. Later it was loaded into the truck which is destined to Bidar in Karnataka.

The drugs were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

A total of six persons, including drivers of the two vehicles, one truck owner, two cultivators and a supplier were arrested. (Maxim News)
