Drug Menace in Adilabad: Police Seize Steroid Injections from Gym, Probe Underway

Adilabad/Hyderabad, July 19, 2025 (Maxim News): The growing threat of drug misuse has sent shockwaves through Adilabad district, as police seized a significant quantity of illegal steroid injections and tablets from a local gym. The raid has raised alarms about the increasing use of performance-enhancing drugs among youth, particularly in fitness circles.

According to police officials, Sheikh Adil, owner of Lion Gym in Adilabad town, has been supplying banned steroids and drug injections to his clients, including young gym-goers. Based on a credible tip-off, authorities conducted a search and discovered various drug-related substances inside the gym premises.

Seized Items Include:

  • One 20 ml AMP injection bottle
  • Three surgical drug injections
  • 36 steroid tablets
  • Additional vials of substances typically used during surgeries

Initial investigations suggest that Adil was not only consuming these substances himself but also administering them to his clients, many of whom have since reported health issues. Following this, police registered a case under Section 334/25 and Section 125 of the BNS, along with Section 27(B)(ii) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act (DCA).

Officials confirmed that the seized substances include drugs that are not legally allowed to be sold or administered without proper medical supervision. The case is currently under detailed investigation, and authorities are probing potential links to larger drug distribution networks.

This incident highlights the urgent need for strict regulation in local gyms and health centers, especially with regard to the misuse of prescription-strength performance enhancers. Health experts have long warned that unsupervised steroid use can cause severe long-term damage, including hormonal imbalances, organ failure, and psychological disorders.
