Torrential Rains in Telangana: IMD Issues Red Alert for Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 19, 2025 (Maxim News): The city of Hyderabad is bracing for another spell of intense rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an alert for heavy to very heavy rains today. While the mornings have seen clear skies and sunshine, sudden downpours during the evening hours have left several parts of the city waterlogged over the past two days.

The IMD has forecast that torrential rain is expected between 3 PM and 11 PM today, urging residents across the city and surrounding areas to avoid venturing outdoors unless absolutely necessary. In its advisory, the department also warned people not to shelter under trees during thunderstorms due to the risk of lightning strikes.

Officials are anticipating severe traffic congestion, especially in key city zones, but with many IT offices closed today, a slight reduction in vehicular movement is expected. Still, residents have been strongly advised to step out only in emergencies, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
