ECI Removed 334 Political Parties From Register List Across India

Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 9 (Maxim News): The Election Commission (EC) has removed 334 political parties from the register list across the country. This decision has been taken against these political parties that have not contested any election since 2019.

The EC said that 334 unrecognized political parties registered with the EC have not contested any election in the six years since 2019. It saide on Saturday that 334 unrecognised political parties registered with the EC have been removed from the list for failing to fulfill this important condition.

Meanwhile, the EC said that these 334 unrecognized political parties belong to various states and union territories across the country.

However, it said that the offices of these parties that were removed from the list are not physically located anywhere. The EC explained that after the removal of 334 parties out of the total 2,854 registered unrecognized political parties, 2,520 political parties are in the registered list. It revealed that currently there are six national parties and 67 state parties. (Maxim News)
