- Surgeon from Punjab and MBBS student from Bengal arrested in investigation
- NIA intensifies multi-state search in Red Fort car blast case
Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov 15 (Maxim News): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) have intensified their investigation into the recent car bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. In a major development, authorities arrested a surgeon from Pathankot, Punjab, and an MBBS student from West Bengal in connection with the case.
According to reports, the NIA arrested MBBS student Janisur alias Nisar Alam from Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal. Officials said he was taken into custody from Surajpur market after being tracked through his mobile location data. ED sources confirmed that he was suspected of having links with terrorist organizations. Nisar, a student at Al-Falah University in Haryana, lived in Ludhiana while his ancestral home is in Konal village near Dalkhola. During the operation, authorities seized digital devices and several important documents from him.
The investigation revealed that Nisar tried to escape during interrogation but was later formally arrested. He will be taken to Siliguri for further questioning. ED officials stated that his possible involvement in the Delhi blast is under verification. “However, the ED has not yet clarified whether Nisar had any direct links with the blast,” sources said. Nisar’s family members maintained that he focused only on his studies and had no connection to illegal activities.
Meanwhile, police detained a 45-year-old surgeon from Pathankot, Punjab. Officials claimed the doctor had earlier worked at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, and is suspected to have connections with the main suspects in a white-collar terror module. He has been working for more than two years at a private medical college-hospital in Pathankot.
The Delhi blast on the 10th of this month claimed 13 lives and triggered a nationwide investigation. Multiple raids have been conducted in several states, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and West Bengal. Recently, authorities searched the house of Moinul Hasan, a resident of Murshidabad, after finding links with suspects in Delhi and Mumbai. However, the NIA has not yet issued an official statement on the charges or evidence against the arrested individuals.
