Hyderabad: Alwal police have registered a case against eight persons following a complaint alleging the sexual assault of a 16-year-old Intermediate student.
According to police, the girl became acquainted with one of the accused, identified as Jerry Varun, while studying in Class X. She alleged that he intoxicated her and sexually assaulted her.
Another person who was allegedly introduced to her through Varun reportedly got her habituated to alcohol, cigarettes and narcotics before allegedly sexually assaulting her.
Girl Allegedly Assaulted at Multiple Locations
Police said the girl was also allegedly harassed by another person who had become acquainted with her through Instagram. After her family members questioned her behaviour on September 9, she reportedly left home.
While she was near Bolarum railway station, some persons allegedly approached her, intoxicated her and sexually assaulted her, according to the complaint.
The complaint further alleged that other persons subsequently took her to different locations, where she was allegedly assaulted.
The girl later managed to escape and return home, where she reportedly narrated the incident to her family.
Based on the complaint, Alwal police registered a case under the POCSO Act against eight persons and launched an investigation. Police are making efforts to identify all those allegedly involved and take further action.
