Election Code: Cash Over Rs. 50,000 Without Proof to Be Seized in Hyderabad
Election Code | Hyderabad, Oct 8: With the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election fast approaching, authorities have intensified vigilance in the city.
District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has set up a District Grievance Committee to oversee the seizure and release of cash, and to implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Flying Squad Teams (FST) and Static Surveillance Teams (SST).
Under the election code of conduct, citizens are advised not to carry more than ₹50,000 in cash or valuables while traveling within the district.

The FST and SST teams will conduct surprise inspections and seize any unaccounted money found in suspicious circumstances.
Officials clarified that cash will be confiscated if valid proof or documentation is not produced.
However, if individuals can present sufficient evidence regarding the source or purpose of the money to the District Grievance Committee, the amount will be verified in accordance with Election Commission guidelines and returned accordingly.
Authorities urged the public to cooperate with inspection teams to ensure a free and fair election process in the Jubilee Hills constituency.
