Internet/Hyderabad, Aug 14 (Maxim News) Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again lashed out at India over the Indus Water Treaty. He has vowed to treat every drop of water they are entitled to under the Indus Water Treaty as a red line. He has vowed to respond strongly to any action taken by India to violate its water rights.
Speaking at a program organized in Islamabad to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day, Shehbaz Sharif made provocative remarks.
“Pakistan wants peace. But it should not be seen as our weakness. We will not stand idly by if our sovereignty and security interests are threatened. We will respond stronger than in may 2025,” Shehbaz said, referring to the clashes between the two countries last year. The Pakistani Prime Minister lied by saying that he won the clashes with India, that is why he made baseless allegations that India had unilaterally stopped the ‘Indus Waters’.
It is known that India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April 2025. This is severely affecting agriculture as well as drinking water there. Pakistan has been repeatedly demanding the release of Indus waters.
However, India has already made it clear that water and blood cannot flow together and that it will consider this issue only if cross-border terrorist attacks are stopped. It has stated that if any international agreement is found to be against the country’s interests, India has the right to terminate it as a sovereign country. (Maxim News)
