EVMs Stored In Strong Rooms With Adequate Security: CEO
Hyderabad, April 13 (Maxim News): Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar informed that with conclusion of voting to Lok Sabha elections at 17 constituencies in Telangana on April 11, the process of receiving electronic voting machines (EVMs) from all booths across State commenced on Friday.
In a press release, Rajat Kumar said the EVMs will be stored in strong rooms across the State till the scheduled day of counting on May 23 As per the EC directive, the EVMs used for the polls will be secured in three pronged security using adequate security personnel. Rajat Kumar said following EC guidelines, the unused EVMs in districts will be transported and stored, under armed guard, at AMC Godown located at Kandlakoya village, Medchal mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district which has been identified as a State Central Warehouse. The CEO also said transport and storage of EVMs was being conducted after due intimation to political parties.
The CEO said Tehsildars and deputy Tehsildars will be responsible for the transport of the EVMs. Joint Collectors or Revenue Divisional Officers will be responsible for receipt of the EVMs from other districts. Rajat Kumar said the State Central Warehouse will be managed by the District Election Officers of the districts. (Maxim News)
