Former football player Malappuram Chekku, who represented different football clubs in the country, passed away at his residence at Makkaraparambu in this district of Kerala today.
He was 77.Member of Kerala Santosh Trophy team in 1969 and 1973, Chekku was defender of the side many years.
He also took part in Durand Cup Delhi, Rodors Cup Tamil Nadu, Mammen Mappila Trophy, Kottayam and Golden Trophy, Kollam, among others, for football clubs.
