Fake Cop Arrested in Hyderabad
Fake Cop | Hyderabad, November 8: In a significant development, the Central Zone team of the Commissioner’s Task Force, acting on credible information, has successfully arrested a habitual inter-state offender who had committed multiple offenses by impersonating a police officer.
The accused, identified as Marathi Srujan Kumar, also known as Surya, Charan, and Cherry, was involved in multiple criminal cases and had two Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) pending against him.
Modus Operandi
Marathi Srujan Kumar, a native of Janagaon District, Telangana, residing in Warangal City, used deceptive tactics to target unsuspecting victims.
He operated on a Pulsar motorcycle without a number plate and sought couples sitting in isolated places or inside their cars.
He approached them with a focused torchlight, introduced himself as a police officer, and displayed a photo of his late wife in a police uniform and a picture of himself with a firearm.
He threatened to take them to the police station, file false FIRs against them, and demanded money or valuables from his innocent victims.
Fake Cop Cases Registered
In one incident on 09-10-2023, he extorted a substantial sum of 5 lakh rupees from a couple sitting in a car at Necklace Road, resulting in the registration of Cr. No.111/2023 under sections 386, 419, 420, and 170 IPC at the Secretariat PS.
In another case on 28-10-2023, the accused extracted twenty thousand rupees from another victim at Necklace Road, leading to the registration of Cr. No.114/2023 under the same sections at the Secretariat PS.
Fake Cop Arrest and Seizure
On 08-11-2023, acting on credible information, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team in Hyderabad apprehended Marathi Srujan Kumar and confiscated the following materials in his possession: Net Cash: Rs. 1,38,000 (One Lakh Thirty-Eight Thousand rupees); One Pulsar Vehicle (without a number plate); Mobile phones; One Small Torch.
Previous Criminal Record
Prior to this arrest, Kumar had been arrested in a staggering 18 cases across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He has a long history of criminal activity and is considered a habitual offender.
This arrest was carried out under the supervision of Nitika Pant, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, and executed by B. Raju Naik, Inspector of Police, along with Sub-Inspectors Ch. Naveen Kumar and S. Sai Kiran, alongside the dedicated staff of the Central Zone Task Force Team in Hyderabad.
