Fine Rice For School Children From Today: Minister

Hyderabad, July 31 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy today said the government has taken a decision to supply fine rice for children in schools across the State from August 1. He also directed the officials concerned to take immediate measures in this regard. Fine rice will be provided under the Mid Day Meals Scheme to the schoolchildren in 28,623 government schools in the State.

In a statement here today, the minister said fine rice reached the hostels, Anganwadi centers and Social Welfare Residential Schools already. The strength of the students was 23,87,751 in all the schools. For this, every month 12,000 metric tons of fine rice was required and the officials have taken steps in this regard. He also said all measures were taken to avoid misuse of rice by using latest technology.

The quota on rice will be lifted by the concerned officials through e-Pass system, he said, adding there was no chance for misuse as shifting and lifting of rice bags will be monitored online regularly. Related transactions will be monitored by the Command Control Center in Hyderabad and officials were asked to take stern actions if any violations were found, he added. (Maxim News)
