Hyderabad, Sept. 6: A fire broke out at an HDFC Bank branch in Godavarikhani, Peddapalli district, early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 7:30 am after an air conditioner reportedly malfunctioned at the branch.
A watchman noticed smoke coming from the bank and alerted the authorities. No one was inside when the fire broke out.
According to an official from the Godavarikhani Fire Station, the AC and some furniture were damaged.
Fire Damages Bank Furniture and AC
The official estimated the property damage at around Rs 2 lakh. A video from the scene showed the bank filled with smoke.
The walls and furniture inside the establishment were also blackened by the fire.
Officials are assessing the exact cause of the incident. The fire reportedly followed the AC being left switched on after staff left the premises the previous day.
