Hyderabad, Oct. 6 (Maxim News): AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has lodged a complaint with the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer over the alleged misuse of Form 7 to target Muslim voters in Goshamahal Assembly constituency.
He has sought action against those allegedly attempting to delete genuine voters from the electoral rolls.
In a letter dated October 6, 2026, Owaisi highlighted alleged irregularities at Polling Station Nos. 28 and 173.
He urged the authorities to investigate the matter and initiate legal action against those responsible.
Form 7 Misuse | 122 Form 7 Applications Filed at Goshamahal Polling Station
According to Owaisi’s complaint, a person named Thudumu Janardhan submitted 122 Form 7 applications at Polling Station No. 28. The complaint alleged that the applications contained pre-printed names of voters whose deletion was being sought.
It stated that the applicant had written his own name and contact number on the forms, while the names of the voters targeted for deletion were already printed.
At Polling Station No. 173, around 30 Form 7 applications were reportedly submitted to the Booth Level Officer (BLO).
According to the complaint, these applications did not mention the applicant’s name, although the names of the voters against whom the forms were filed were pre-printed.
The complaint stated that both BLOs refused to accept the applications.
Form 7 Misuse | Owaisi Cites Two Voters in Complaint
Owaisi cited the cases of Sami Uddin Ansari and Mirza Farooq Baig as examples of the alleged misuse of Form 7.
Ansari is listed at serial number 378 under Polling Station No. 173.
Baig is listed at serial number 501 under Polling Station No. 28.
According to the complaint, both voters appeared in the 2002 electoral roll, the 2025 electoral roll and the draft Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll.
The letter stated that Ansari had been residing at the same address for 30 years. It also said Baig had lived at his address since birth.
Despite their long-standing residence, Owaisi alleged that Form 7 applications had been filed against them with the intention of deleting their names from the electoral rolls.
The complaint further alleged that the person who submitted the forms was a sympathiser of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Owaisi argued that the circumstances pointed to an attempt to target Muslim voters in the constituency.
These allegations were presented in the complaint and have not been independently established.
Form 7 Misuse | Owaisi Seeks Cases Under Representation of the People Act
In his letter, Owaisi referred to Memo No. 868/Elecs.B/B1/2026-100. He stated that the Chief Electoral Officer’s office had issued instructions directing Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to take action under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, against applicants making false declarations.
Owaisi urged the Chief Electoral Officer to initiate appropriate action and register cases against those found responsible for the alleged irregularities.
He said such action would serve as a deterrent against electoral malpractice.
He also stressed the need to safeguard genuine voters from the wrongful deletion of their names from the final electoral rolls.
The complaint specifically concerns the alleged misuse of Form 7 in Goshamahal Assembly constituency, particularly at Polling Station Nos. 28 and 173.
The allegations and the requested legal action now require examination by the concerned election authorities.(Maxim News)
