Free Fire India Launch | Garena has announced the launch of Free Fire India on October 28, bringing its popular battle royale game back in a dedicated version for Indian players.
The standalone mobile game will be available as a free download through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, according to the company. It promises India-focused content, wider smartphone compatibility and features designed to encourage responsible gaming.
The launch marks an important development for Indian mobile gamers who have been waiting for the India-specific edition since Garena postponed its original launch in September 2023.
Garena has also announced a special Diwali campaign featuring themed artwork, costumes and exclusive in-game content inspired by India’s diverse cultures and communities. The campaign will continue until November 15.

Free Fire India will retain the familiar battle royale gameplay, allowing players to compete against others, team up with friends and participate in in-game events.
Garena says the game has been optimised for a broad range of smartphones. This includes entry-level devices with limited hardware capabilities as well as high-end flagship models.
The company has also introduced measures to promote responsible gaming. Players under 18 will require parental consent to play online. The game will include regular break reminders, playtime limits and spending caps.
These features aim to encourage healthier gaming habits and help parents monitor younger players’ activities.
Data privacy is another key focus of the India-specific release. Garena says Free Fire India will use servers located in India to host game data. The company has also stated that it considered feedback from relevant Indian government stakeholders while preparing the release.

Garena plans to continue supporting India’s esports ecosystem through partnerships and initiatives for aspiring players and teams. These efforts are expected to create opportunities across grassroots and collegiate competitions, with pathways towards international tournaments.
Players should look for the official game listing under Garena’s publisher name when downloading the app. They should avoid unofficial APK files shared through websites or messaging platforms, as these may contain modified or unsafe software.
