Free Ration to Poor Forever: Kishan Reddy
Delhi/Hyderabad, Jan 8 (Maxim News): Union Minister for Culture and Tourism G.Kishan Reddy revealed that the center is taking steps to give free ration permanently, this issue has already been discussed in the Union Cabinet.
He said that if the Center spends Rs. 30 per kilo on rice, the state spends only Rs. 2 and claims that the state government is providing everything, which is a shame. On the other hand, the free ration in the state will be limited to 5 kg. The government has given a voucher for the distribution of rice of 6 kg each which was implemented earlier. Free rice will be distributed at the rate of 5 kg per person to all holders of the National Food Security Card (NFSC) issued by the Central Government and the Food Security Card issued by the State government for a year from this month. As a result, the subsidy burden for the state government will be reduced by more than Rs. 150 crores.
Earlier, the center used to collect rice at the rate of Rs. 32 per kg and bear a subsidy of Rs. 29 per kg, and distribute rice at the rate of 5 kg per kg at Rs. 3 per kg. The state government used to provide 6 kg of rice at a rate of Rs 1 with a subsidy of Rs. 1. However, in the background of Corona, the Center implemented the Garib Kalyan Yojana and announced an additional 5 kg of rice for free, with this, the state also implemented an additional quota so that every poor family would get 10 kg of rice free of charge.
