Hyderabad: The FTCCI Conference on Business Resilience and Global Trade Management highlighted India’s growing role in global trade and its strong economic outlook. The full day conference, themed “Advancing Bilateral and Multilateral Trade Relations,” was held at Hotel Leela in Hyderabad. The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry organised the event as part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ State facilitation and knowledge support activities, with support from the State Bank of India.

The FTCCI Conference brought together over 150 participants from government, diplomacy, industry, and academia. Dr Arvind Virmani, Member of NITI Aayog, attended as Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the conference. Addressing the gathering, he said India’s economic growth remains encouraging and is accelerating compared to the global economy. He compared India’s performance with China, the United States, and other major economies, and pointed to rising employment and strong macroeconomic fundamentals.

Dr Virmani spoke about two major global trends, global demographics and world manufacturing. He said India’s growth trajectory continues to strengthen against the global average and China. Addressing concerns about jobless growth, he stated that employment generation in India is happening faster than population growth. He also stressed that skilling is key, adding that India’s share of the global labour force will keep rising and give the country a strong human capital advantage.

Meanwhile, Dr Virmani said no single country can control global manufacturing. He referred to the growing concentration of world manufactured exports and said India is well placed to meet rising global demand. He outlined reforms needed to stay competitive, including labour codes, tax compliance reforms, a quality first approach, and Free Trade Agreements. He added that India is well placed to become an Upper Middle Income Country and later a High Income Country, as defined by the World Bank. In his closing remarks, he predicted that India would overtake Germany in two to three years and surpass the European Union by 2050.

Later, Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary of Industries and Commerce, spoke about Telangana’s opportunities. He said Telangana ranks sixth in export preparedness and noted infrastructure projects such as the Regional Ring Road. He said exports grew 36 percent to USD 19 billion in 2024–25, while IT exports may touch ₹3 lakh crore this year. He also spoke about the state led AI Hub, policy revisions, and growing pharma and aerospace exports.

Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs stressed that global trade has become complex but India has signed nine trade deals in six years. Other speakers highlighted FTAs, investor confidence, and resilient trade systems. The FTCCI Conference also featured technical sessions on FTAs, export diversification, and government support for exports.
