Hyderabad, Oct. 18: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) has urged the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) to address industrial power supply issues, tariff concerns and delays in solar net metering approvals.
The discussions took place during FTCCI’s sixth consecutive monthly stakeholder meeting with TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, IAS, at Federation House in Hyderabad on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
More than 45 participants attended the meeting, including senior power utility officials, FTCCI office-bearers, industry representatives, consultants and members of the Energy Committee.
Industry representatives highlighted production losses caused by power interruptions, particularly during evening peak hours. They requested advance notice of scheduled outages to help factories plan operations.
TGSPDCL agreed to consider sending advance SMS and email alerts about planned power interruptions.
TGSPDCL Considers Tariff Relief and Dedicated Industry Managers
FTCCI sought an extension of the collection period for the two-hour fuel surcharge from 29 to 48 months. It also requested a reduction in the delayed payment surcharge from 18% compounded to 12%.

The industry body further sought a six-month waiver of the additional surcharge on Open Access. The meeting also reviewed a proposed One-Time Settlement scheme for legacy surcharge dues.
A financial assessment of the settlement scheme is underway. An Electricity Regulatory Commission filing is expected by November 30, 2026, with support from KPMG, according to the meeting details.
Another key outcome was the proposed appointment of dedicated Operations Service Managers and Key Account Managers for high-tension industrial consumers. These managers would help address power supply, operational and billing grievances.
Patil agreed to issue a formal circular within a week, followed by an orientation session with FTCCI. Industries can also send customer service-related concerns to customerservice@tgsouthernpower.org.
The meeting also addressed delays in rooftop solar net metering approvals, behind-the-meter solar installations, net billing and time-of-day charges. FTCCI will submit two or three documented cases of delayed approvals to help TGSPDCL identify bottlenecks.

TGSPDCL also agreed to review the implementation timeline for time-of-day charges. The utility is procuring four to five power quality meters to improve transparency in Open Access no-objection certificate testing.
Participants discussed solar and battery storage solutions for gated communities to reduce electricity costs for common facilities. Patil proposed a dedicated workshop involving community associations, solution providers, FTCCI and other stakeholders, with KPMG assisting in its organization.
Other issues included voltage fluctuations, transformer overloads, tree-cutting-related outages, HT classification flags, auxiliary consumption conversion and high electricity bills. TGSPDCL agreed to follow up on pending grievances and examine infrastructure improvements.
Feeder and transformer enhancement works are targeted for completion by December 31, 2026. The CMD assured industry representatives that the utility would continue working to improve service delivery and resolve their concerns.
