Hyderabad, April 28: Fuel rationing has begun at several petrol bunks in Hyderabad amid rising demand and supply delays across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Long queues were seen outside fuel stations in many areas. Meanwhile, several bunks displayed no stock boards due to low fuel availability.
Fuel Rationing Introduced At Hyderabad Petrol Bunks
Petrol bunk operators introduced temporary restrictions to manage available stock. As a result, vehicles are being supplied fuel only up to Rs 1,000.
The rule applies to bikes, cars and heavy vehicles. Additionally, bunk owners stopped filling petrol and diesel in plastic bottles, cans and containers.
Fuel station operators said they are unable to handle the sudden rush of customers. Many consumers are reportedly purchasing excess fuel fearing shortages and price hikes.
Dealers blamed delays in supply from oil companies for the present situation. However, officials said adequate fuel reserves are available.
Authorities stated that panic buying is worsening the shortage. Therefore, they appealed to the public not to purchase fuel beyond normal requirements.
Officials are monitoring the situation closely to ensure smooth fuel distribution in the coming days.
