Hyderabad, March 17: Mallika Hospitals in KPHB has launched the Esaote G Scan Open Weight Bearing MRI, the first system of its kind in Telangana. The new imaging technology marks a major step in medical diagnostics and aims to improve the way doctors examine spine and joint conditions.
Traditional MRI scans usually take place when a patient lies in a supine position. However, this position may miss abnormalities that appear when the body carries natural weight. The G Scan Open MRI changes this process. It allows doctors to study how the spine and joints behave under normal weight bearing conditions. Therefore, clinicians can detect problems more accurately.
The system also helps doctors examine several medical conditions more effectively. These include chronic back and neck pain, disc herniations, spinal stenosis, spinal instability, knee and joint disorders, and sports related ligament problems. Meanwhile, doctors can observe the body’s response in positions that better reflect daily movement.
The new G Scan technology also supports dynamic positional scanning. Patients can undergo scans while standing, sitting, or bending. As a result, doctors gain a clearer understanding of functional spine movement and joint stress. The open MRI design also improves patient comfort during the imaging process.
Mallika Hospitals said the system represents a new generation of musculoskeletal imaging. The platform combines weight bearing MRI evaluation with advanced software tools that support functional and biomechanical analysis. Therefore, clinicians can study spine function in a more realistic and detailed way.
The installation of the G Scan Open MRI marks a major milestone for Mallika Hospitals and Spine Centre. The hospital aims to strengthen its role in advanced spine and musculoskeletal care in Hyderabad.
The Spine Centre operates under the leadership of spine surgeon Dr. J. Naresh Babu. The hospital also provides multidisciplinary medical services. Nephrology services are led by Dr. Ranganath, while Dr. Radhika oversees women’s health services.
With the launch of the first standing dynamic MRI in Telangana, Mallika Hospitals plans to bring global standard diagnostic technology to patients in Hyderabad and nearby regions. The hospital expects the system to support better diagnosis and improved treatment planning for spine and joint disorders.
