General Upendra Dwivedi Calls For Tech Transformation

Hyderabad: General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, visited the College of Defence Management in Secunderabad on March 11. During the visit, General Upendra Dwivedi addressed participants of the 21st Higher Defence Management Course, the faculty, and the permanent staff of the college.
In his address, General Upendra Dwivedi explained the Indian Army’s vision for transformation. He spoke about the need to adapt to the evolving security environment. He said the Indian Army stands at the cusp of a new era. This era, he noted, is defined by technological prowess, organisational agility, and self reliance.
He also highlighted the values that guide this transformation. According to him, the process remains anchored in the core values of Truth, Trust and Transparency. Therefore, the Indian Army aims to combine strong values with modern capability. Meanwhile, the leadership continues to guide the force through changes in technology and strategy.
General Upendra Dwivedi also referred to lessons from Operation Sindoor. While discussing the operation, he pointed out a key strategic shift. He said India has moved from a reactive posture to a proactive deterrence posture. This change, he noted, reflects evolving military thinking and preparedness.
Furthermore, he stressed the need to harness new tools in modern warfare. He highlighted the role of multi domain operations. He also spoke about the growing importance of data centric warfare and unmanned systems. According to him, these capabilities will play a major role in future conflicts.
Later, General Upendra Dwivedi interacted with the faculty members and international participants. These participants came from Friendly Foreign Countries. During the interaction, they discussed several key themes. These included strategic management, leadership development, and resource optimisation.
The visit also provided an opportunity for professional exchange. Faculty members and participants engaged in discussions with the Army Chief. Meanwhile, the session focused on improving understanding of defence management and leadership challenges.
The College of Defence Management in Secunderabad hosts specialised courses for senior military officers. The Higher Defence Management Course is one such programme. Through such interactions, the institution continues to promote strategic thinking and leadership learning within the armed forces.
