Germany Bumper Offer For Indians: Now Travel Without A Visa
Gandhinagar/Hyderabad, Jan 13 (Maxim News): The Germany government has good news for Indian passport holders. It has clarified that passengers travelling to third countries (for example, the US, Canada or the UK) via German airports will no longer need to obtain an airport transit visa. This key announcement was made after bilateral talks between German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Indian Prime Minister Modi on Monday (January 12).
According to the existing rules, Indians travelling to other countries through airports like Frankfurt or Munich in Germany were required to have a ‘Schengen Transit Visa’ even if they did not leave the airport. This meant that travelers had to spend a lot of time on the visa-free transit process, at an additional cost . The latest decision has lifted this rule. This will make travel easier for millions of Indian students, professionals and tourists.
This visa-free facility is only applicable to those staying in the international transit area of the airport. This means that passengers will not be able to travel beyond the airport into German cities. Those travelling to countries like the UK or the US can now travel via Germany easily and quickly with fewer documents. The decision was taken to mark the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany strategic partnership.
Chancellor Merz ‘s visit to India is his first foreign visit. The two countries signed 19 key agreements in the fields of defense, technology and green energy during the meeting in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The Chancellor also expressed his willingness to invite Indian skilled workers to Germany.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi expressed his happiness by saying, “By abolishing the transit visa, not only will the travel difficulties of Indians be resolved, but the ties between the people of the two countries will also be further strengthened.” (Maxim News)
