On the other hand, there is a possibility that the two BRS corporators who filed nominations will also withdraw their nominations. If this happens, the GHMC standing committee elections will be held without elections.

Out of the total 150 corporators in GHMC, 15 standing committee members are elected every year. After the mayor and deputy mayor, these 15 standing committee members are very crucial for any decision to be taken in GHMC regarding administration and new projects.

In the past ten years, GhMC standing committee elections have not been held so far.  Every time, the elections have been held unanimously. However, this time, the BJP and BRS have a slightly higher number of members, some corporators have joined the Congress, and the mayor and deputy mayor have changed parties. In the wake of these developments, the GhMC standing committee elections are expected to be interesting, but there is a possibility that the two corporators who filed nominations from BRS may also withdraw. If this happens, the GHMC standing committee elections are likely to be held unanimously without any elections.  (Maxim News)
