GHMC Tops In Twitter Followers’ List Of Civic Bodies In India

Hyderabad, July 27 (Maxim News): GHMC has achieved the distinction of the municipal corporation with the highest number of followers on popular social networking app twitter than any other Municipal Corporations in the country. At present, the GHMC has more than 1 lakh twitter followers. Behind GHMC the nearest Municipal Corporations is Ahmadabad Municipal Corporation with 40,100 twitters followers.

Another urban local body, Bangalore Municipal Corporation known as IT hub has only 26,800 twitter followers. The Surat Municipal Corporation, which won as Swachh city in Swachh Bharath Swavekshan ranking last year, has 4,100 followers only on the twitter. The other Municipal Corporations with twitter followers are Pune Municipal Corporation which has 21,400 followers. The New Delhi Municipal Corporation has 7,400 followers and the Greater Vishaka Municipal Corporation has 3,300. The least twitter followers is with Patna nagar Nigam Corporation whose number stands just 369 only. The Warangal Municipal Corporation has 3,764 twitter followers.

The official twitter account of the Commissioner of GHMC has 55,400 while the Principal Secretary of MA&UD of the state has 16,200 followers The twitter handle of GHMC mayor Bonthu Rammohan H.W.Mayor has 44,600 followers, while Dy.Mayor of the GHMC has 15,800 followers on twitter.

The main reason behind for more number of twitter followers for the civic body and its public representatives and officials is due to the immediate response they give to the citizens problems and rectify the same as soon as possible. Under ease of doing business scheme, the Commissioner of the civic body is reviewing the complaints regularly received from GHMC app, Twitter, Face Book, e-mails and Praja Vani program. (Maxim News)
