Godavari Flood Nears Third Warning Level, Minister Seethakka Reviews Relief Measures

Hyderabad: Telangana Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Women & Child Welfare Minister Seethakka on Saturday inspected the rising Godavari flood situation at Mangapet in Mulugu district as the river flowed close to the third warning level.

The Minister visited the Godavari river near the market warehouses in Mangapet and reviewed the flood situation and the ongoing embankment protection works. She also held discussions with officials from the Revenue, Police, Panchayat Raj and Irrigation departments on inundation in low lying areas and the measures being taken to safeguard residents.

Minister reviews rehabilitation and flood preparedness

Seethakka visited relief camps where families from flood affected localities, including Podmuru, Muslim Wada and BC Colony, have been shifted. She interacted with displaced residents, enquired about their problems and reviewed the arrangements being made for food, shelter and other essential services.

The Minister directed officials to remain on high alert until the Godavari water level recedes and ensure uninterrupted relief and rehabilitation measures for affected families.

Officials briefed the Minister on the flood situation in vulnerable villages across the Mangapet mandal and the preparedness to handle any further rise in water levels.

Senior officials and local public representatives accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
