Good Voting in Huzurabad Bypoll, action against violations: CEO Goel

Hyderabad, Oct.30 (Maxim News): Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Shashank Goel today stated that the polling was peaceful in Huzurabad amid corona protocols and he sees good voter turnout. The polling was good as it was reported to be 76.26 percent by 5 pm, he said. He said that more voters are coming to cast votes and we expect more by 7 pm. The people should come and join the electioneering process and cast their votes as per democratic right, Goel said.

We have been seeing related campaigns in print, electronic and social media, he said and added that they will take action on poll code violations. The EC will act tough against poll code violations after thorough inquiry at field level. The police were instructed to take those violators into custody and take action as per norms, Goel said.

Though there were some tensions reported at some places, the polling was good and expected a huge turnout of the voters. The EC has received 88 complaints from the political parties and others he informed.

The officials are looking into the complaints of money distribution at field level, Shashank Goel said. On finding the details with proof of violations EC will take serious action, he stated. He said that the EC made arrangements and expected the polling in a fair and smooth manner. We see more voters turning out to cast their votes, he said.

CP Satyanarayana said that they are filing cases against the TRS and the BJP and other parties. He said that the police officials filed cases against more than 140 persons of these parties and seized big cash and materials. We are not sparing anyone if poll code violations were found, he said.
