Hyderabad, March 17: State Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government is fully committed to the welfare of journalists. He stated that the administration will take positive decisions to resolve their issues. He also noted that the holy month of Ramadan reflects discipline, patience, service, and humanity.

The Minister attended a Dawat-e-Iftar programme. The event was organized jointly by the Telangana Union of Working Journalists and the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation. It took place at the Suravaram Pratap Reddy Auditorium in Basheerbagh.

Addressing the gathering, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy praised journalists for their role in society. He said it is commendable that journalists organize Iftar gatherings beyond barriers of caste and religion. He added that journalists act as the voice of marginalized sections. Therefore, they play a key role in strengthening democracy.

He also said that journalists serve as a bridge between the government and the public. According to him, they help take welfare schemes to the people. Meanwhile, he reiterated that the people’s government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy gives top priority to journalists’ welfare. He assured that the government remains committed to solving their problems.

The Minister further spoke about accreditation issues. He said the government will take steps to ensure justice for all journalists. He added that suggestions from journalists will be considered in the accreditation committee. He also assured that the government will take positive decisions on house site allocations and health cards.

He reiterated that the government will consider journalists’ suggestions in issuing accreditation cards. He also said their recommendations will be included in forming accreditation committees to ensure fairness.

Several prominent personalities attended the event. Among them were Telangana Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy, former IJU President Devulapalli Amar, Sultan-ul-Uloom Educational Institutions Secretary Zafar Javed, and Pista House CEO M.A. Majeed. TUWJ President K. Virahat Ali, General Secretary K. Rama Narayana, and TUWJF President M.A. Majeed were also present. Around 150 Urdu journalists attended the programme.
