Hyderabad, Oct. 7 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has sanctioned two pending Dearness Allowance (DA) installments for state government employees and pensioners.
The decision follows the State Cabinet’s approval on October 1. The two DA instalments will raise the applicable DA rate by 6.37 percentage points and add about ₹2,500 crore annually to the state’s financial burden.
The government will include the revised DA in the October salary, which employees are expected to receive on November 1.
The two instalments cover DA dues from January 1, 2024, and July 1, 2024. The January 2024 instalment carries arrears for 33 months, while the July 2024 instalment covers 27 months up to September 2026.
Telangana DA Arrears to Be Paid in Instalments
Following the latest revision, the cumulative DA for employees under the relevant pay scales will reach 37.31% for the January 2024 instalment and 40.04% after the July 2024 instalment.
The government will clear the arrears in instalments instead of making a single payment. The January 2024 DA arrears will be paid over 33 instalments, while the July 2024 arrears will be cleared over 27 instalments.
The arrears will be credited to employees’ GPF accounts, according to the government’s payment arrangement.
The DA benefit will also apply to eligible employees covered under the UGC and AICTE frameworks, as specified in the government orders.
The government estimates that the two DA releases will benefit about 6.91 lakh employees, pensioners and other eligible personnel. The total arrears for the two instalments are estimated at around ₹6,174 crore.
The latest decision provides relief to employees and pensioners who have been awaiting multiple pending DA instalments since 2024. Five further DA instalments remain pending after the release of the two approved instalments. (Maxim News)
