Governor To Hoist National Flag At Raj Bhavan On Jan 26

Hyderabad, Jan 24 (Maxim News): It appears that the cold war between Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao and the Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundara Rajan is continuing, this year too, the Governor has decided to celebrate the Republic Day Celebration at Raj Bhavan by hoisting the National Flag at 7.00 am on January 26.

The Governor has given instructions to the officials for making arrangements for the Republic Day celebration, according to it the officials are making arrangements, The Governor will host the “At Home” program in the evening.

After the formation of Telangana State, the state government chose to hold the celebrations at the Public Garden. But in 2922, citing the Covid-19 restrictions, the Chief Minister decided to hold the Republic Day function at Pragathi Bhavan. As the differences between the government and Raj Bhavan had begun, the Governor was not invited, Normally on the occasion of Republic Day, the governor delivers her speech during the official ceremony.

Following this, the Governor organized parallel celebrations at Raj Bhavan and read out her own speech. Though there are no covid restrictions, the government this time is unlikely to hold it at Public Gardens so so far no arrangements have been made.

Sources said that KCR would hold the brief celebrations at Pragathi Bhavan. On the other hand, the Raj Bhavan is also making arrangements for flag hoisting and Governor’s speech in Raj Bhavan. This would be followed by at home function to be hoisted by Governor in the evening. It is learned that like last year, this year too no one from the government would participate in the at-home program.

This cold war between KCR and Governor will also have an impact on the Budget session of the State Assembly. The government had not prorogued the State Assembly for the past one and half years and hence this would be the second consecutive budget session which would be treated as part of the ongoing session of the State Assembly. Hence there is no need for the Governor to give her address, the officials claim. But this situation, the Governor had recently remarked was unique, and nowhere in the country, the session of the State Assembly has been kept alive. Even a parliament session is prorogued at the end of every session. (Maxim News)
