Govt Approval For New ‘Bars’: Application Fee Is Rs. 1 Lakh Non Refundable
Hyderabad, Mar 30 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has given permission for new ‘bars’ A notification for new bars in Telangana will be released soon.
the government has given the green signal to a total of 41 new bars, it is noteworthy that the government has given permission for 25 new bars and restaurants in the state, excluding Greater Hyderabad.
The government has given permission for the establishment of 16 new bars and restaurants within the Hyderabad city limits, The government has decided to release a notification to the effect in the GHMC after the local elections.
The government has fixed a fee of Rs. 1 lakh for applying for each bar. The excise department has clarified that this fee will not be refunded. If more than one application is received for each bar, the government will select the bar through a lucky draw.
The excise department has revealed that applications will be available online till April 26. Currently, there are 1171 bars in the state of Telangana. There are 2620 wines.
Bar and restaurant owners are questioning why the existing bars are in loss and why new bars. The excise department has explained that the tenders that were stopped in January 2017 are being called again now.
Meanwhile, it is known that the government has increased the prices of beer in Telangana. the government is also planning to increase the revenue from liquor by introducing a new excise policy in the next financial year and giving permissions to elite bars and wines. The government has prepared plans to generate at least Rs. 4,500 crore revenue for the excise department per month.
The Revanth government has estimated that it will collect Rs. 36,000 crore in VAT and excise duty on liquor sales in this financial year 2024-25. Officials revealed that between April and September 2024, the excise department collected Rs. 9493 crore through excise duty and Rs. 8.040 crore through VAT.
This means that only Rs. 17,533 crore was collected in the first 6 months. However, after that, purchases picked up momentum during festivals and December. This increased the revenue.
An average of over Rs. 90 crore is being generated daily through liquor shops, bars, clubs and pubs across the state. Excise officials have revealed that liquor sales are averaging between Rs. 2,700 crore and Rs. 3,000 crore per month.
With the increase in beer prices, it is estimated that an additional revenue of around Rs. 300 crore will be generated every month. (Maxim News)
