Govt increases wages of Gopala Mitra workers

Hyderabad, Oct.4 (NSS): Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav informed that the State government has issued a GO increasing the wages of Gopala Mitra workers from Rs.8,500 to Rs.11,050, almost 30 percent in hike.

The Gopala Mitra workers work under the District Livestock Development Agency (DLDA) and their main objective of duty is to visit villages and provide health services to cattle. They play a major role in artificial insemination of the cattle.

In a release here on Tuesday, Minister Srinivas Yadav reminded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had recognised the services of Gopala Mitra and increased their wages from Rs.3,500 to Rs 8,500 soon after the formation of Telangana State. With the fresh decision, their wages will be increased by 30 percent again, he said.

Stating that the State government is taking eloborate steps to improve milk production and boost the dairy sector, the Minister said that the animal husbandry department conducted a record number of 14 lakhs artificial insemination in Telangana since 2019 under the National Artificial Insemination Programme.

He said the Animal Husbandry has already conducted training classes for the Gopala Mitra workers under the experts guidance of Telangana Veterinary University to polish their skills and is also planning to involve their services in more number of programmes in the days to come. (NSS)
