Hyderabad, Sept. 21: The Telangana government has decided to continue operating government polytechnic colleges under the Technical Education Department.
The government also clarified that there will be no changes to diploma courses, examinations or AICTE related matters.
Advisor to Government (Public Affairs) K Keshava Rao conveyed the decision to representatives of the Telangana Polytechnic Joint Action Committee (TP JAC) on Sunday.
The decision follows a 35 day protest by polytechnic students and faculty members over GO 97.
The order had proposed integrating polytechnics with the Young India Skills University (YISU) under the Shakti Department.

The government had formed a high level committee headed by Keshava Rao to discuss the concerns raised by students and staff.
TP JAC members Telangana Govt To Retain Polytechnics Under Technical Education Departmenthad questioned the proposed integration of polytechnics, Industrial Training Institutes and Advanced Technology Centres with YISU.
They cited differences in staff cadres, pay scales and promotion structures. They also raised concerns over AICTE related regulations.
Students had expressed concerns about their diploma courses and future academic opportunities.
They particularly sought clarity on ECET, which allows eligible diploma holders to enter undergraduate engineering programmes through lateral entry.
Students had also raised concerns over possible fee changes and the future administration of polytechnic institutions under the proposed YISU framework.
The TP JAC had earlier demanded withdrawal of GO 97 and continuation of polytechnics under the existing Technical Education framework.
Keshava Rao later met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and submitted a report on the concerns raised by students and faculty members.
Following the government’s latest clarification, TP JAC chairman M Nagaraju and secretary general Shravan Kumar Goud said the JAC had ended its 35 day non cooperation protest.
They said FRS attendance, regular classes and examinations would continue according to the existing schedule.
