Hyderabad, Sept. 21: Tension prevailed at Tank Bund on Monday as Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi members protested against barricading along the Hussain Sagar stretch.
The protesters tried to dismantle iron barricades installed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad City Police.
The protest began around 11 am after a large group of Samithi members reached Tank Bund.
They found extensive iron barricades and flex banners installed along the area.
The banners announced restrictions on Ganesh idol immersion along the upper Tank Bund stretch.

The Samithi members attempted to remove barricades fixed to the lake railings.
Police intervened and stopped them from dismantling the structures.

The protesters also raised slogans against the GHMC and demanded permission for immersion at Tank Bund.
BGUS general secretary Ravinuthala Shashidhar questioned the restrictions on devotees.
He demanded that the GHMC allow Ganesh idol immersion at Tank Bund.
Shashidhar also referred to a Telangana State Pollution Control Board report submitted to the High Court.
According to him, the report found no contamination during Ganesh immersion in Hussain Sagar Lake.
The protest comes amid restrictions imposed on idol immersion along parts of Tank Bund.
Authorities have made alternative arrangements for Ganesh idol immersion at designated locations across Hyderabad.
