This year, Eid prayers were held inside mosques instead of traditional open prayer grounds, known as Idgahs in India, as authorities prioritised worshippers’ safety amid volatile regional conditions linked to the Iran conflict.

Pleasant weather, with below-average temperatures and early morning rain showers on Friday, added to the festive atmosphere.

In Dubai, worshippers assembled peacefully at around 900 mosques in the early hours. Similar scenes were witnessed in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates, where people celebrated the festival with enthusiasm.

In Saudi Arabia, thousands of devotees thronged Makkah and Madinah to offer Eid prayers. Hotels and serviced apartments in the holy cities were reportedly fully occupied by pilgrims.
