Deir al-Balah (Gaza Strip)/Internet/Hyderabad, May 29 (Maxim News) Hamas has suffered another major setback in Gaza. Senior Hamas militant leader Mohammed Sinwar has been killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this in parliament on Wednesday. Mohammed is the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, a former key Hamas leader. Yahya was killed in an Israeli airstrike last year.
Israel has accused Yahya of being one of the masterminds behind the Hamas ambush on Israeli villages on October 7, 2023. After Yahya, Mohammed is taking over his responsibilities. On May 13, Israel carried out a heavy bombardment of Sinwar’s hometown of Khan Younis.
“Their impact destroyed the Hamas command center in the basement of the local European Hospital. Sinwar was killed,” the army said. Hamas has not confirmed Sinwar’s death. However, the Gaza government has just announced that six people were killed and 40 injured in the attack on May 13.(Maxim News)
