Speaking on the occasion, Minister Harish Rao said that there was a 7.6 per cent increase in green cover in Telangana since formation of the State and it was the success of Haritha Haram programme and all credit would go to the TRS government.
Harish Rao said the State government has launched various programmes, including Haritha Haram with the objective of reviving forests and increase green cover in the State.
The government has set up nurseries at rural and urban areas and also provided a tractor to each nursery and other facilities, including the dedicated staff to carry out its operations every day. Saplings have been distributed to people free of cost. Thus, the State government’s stringent measures have helped to increasing forest cover in Telangana, Harish Rao said.

He stated that the government has planted over 240 crore saplings in Telangana since the formation of the State and the green cover has touched 31.6 percent in the State.
The Minister also informed that the State government is aimed at planting about 20 crore saplings this year and is taking all steps to increase the green cover by initiating various programmes.
During the five-day mela, a total of 150 stalls have been displayed and nursery companies from all over the country are taking part in the programme.
