The BRS leader was stopped by police when he attempted to visit affected farmers opposing land acquisition for a proposed industrial park in Parigi constituency of Vikarabad district. Police reportedly deployed heavy security outside his residence and blocked routes to prevent his visit.

Speaking to the media, Harish Rao alleged that the government was issuing notifications for industrial parks in areas around Hyderabad, including Vikarabad and Bhuvanagiri, where assigned lands belonging to SC, ST and BC communities were located.

He claimed the government was trying to intimidate landowners and forcibly acquire their lands.

“Is arresting women part of Praja Palana?”

Harish Rao also criticised the police action against protesters, alleging that tents set up by villagers at Kallapur were removed and women were detained despite the protest being peaceful.

He said the Congress government, which speaks about democracy and the right to question, was acting contrary to its claims. Calling it “predatory governance” rather than Praja Palana (people’s rule), he alleged that lands distributed to the poor during previous regimes were now being taken back.

He further accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of focusing excessively on land-related issues, alleging that from Musi to Lagacherla and Parigi, government actions were affecting houses and agricultural lands of the poor.

BRS will continue agitation: Harish Rao

The BRS leader said the Congress party had promised in its election manifesto to provide full land rights to SC and ST beneficiaries and compensation on par with patta lands if acquired for projects.

However, he alleged that lands worth nearly ₹1 crore per acre were being acquired for as low as ₹10–20 lakh. He said farmers in Parigi were in distress and unwilling to part with their lands.

Harish Rao asserted that police restrictions would not stop him from visiting Parigi and meeting affected farmers. He said the BRS would continue its agitation until the land acquisition notification is withdrawn and lands are returned to farmers.
