Addressing the media at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, the minister said there was no truth whatsoever in Harish Rao’s claim that ₹35,000 crore would be spent on the barrage or that it would provide irrigation to 4.47 lakh acres. “These numbers are entirely fabricated. Not even preliminary estimates have been prepared yet. How can Harish Rao throw around such figures?” he questioned.

He accused Harish Rao of trying to mislead the people of Telangana with exaggerated and baseless figures. “His statements are not just false, they reflect a deliberate attempt to confuse the public. This so-called cleverness only exposes his desperation and lack of credibility,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

Tummidihatti Barrage, Chevella-Pranahita Revival Planned

The minister affirmed that the state government has indeed decided to construct the Tummidihatti barrage and revive the Chevella-Pranahita project works. However, he clarified that the government has not finalised any financial or irrigation estimates so far. “Once the estimates are ready, we will announce them officially,” he added.

Mocking Harish Rao’s assertions, Uttam Kumar Reddy remarked, “One cannot act over-smart and expect to get away with it. Making up numbers and calling it vision will only backfire in public life.”

He urged the people of Telangana to remain alert and not fall for such deceptive campaigns. “False propaganda like this must be countered with facts and transparency,” he said.

Highlighting the Congress government’s commitment, the minister said that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the state is functioning transparently and working diligently for the welfare of farmers. “We are expediting the construction of all pending irrigation projects to ensure timely availability of water for both farming and drinking needs,” he added. (Maxim News)
