Heavy rains have triggered a water board alert in Hyderabad
Heavy rains | Hyderabad, August 20: Hyderabad has been lashed by heavy rains since Tuesday morning, prompting the city water authorities to issue a high alert. In response to the rains, Director General Ashok Reddy convened a virtual meeting with senior officials including general managers, deputy managers, and superintendents
Officials have been directed to keep a close watch on the city and pay special attention to flood-prone areas. To ensure public health oversight, the water commission has ordered water quality tests in flood-affected areas and distributed chlorine solutions wherever possible.
Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) and Special Purpose Teams (SPTs) have been deployed to assist in the rescue operation. Where contaminated water is suspected, the Water Board will provide a tanker for supply.
Heavy rains
Close cooperation with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the police department has been emphasized. The public is urged not to open the manhole under any circumstances. For assistance, residents can call the water district’s customer service number 155313.

The water board has canceled all holidays for its employees and staff due to the weather forecast for rain over the next two days.
