Heavy Water Flow Into Musi: Bridges Closed After Overflow

Hyderabad, aug 29 (Maxim News): In Telangana state, rivers and streams are overflowing due to the heavy rains. In this context, the Musi river has become turbulent in the city. Floods have flooded Musi after the gates of the twin reservoirs were lifted.

Officials said that 8 gates of Osman Sagar were lifted and 4100 cusecs of water was released into Musi, while 3 gates of Himayat Sagar were lifted and 2300 cusecs of water was released into Musi. With the release of water, the intensity of the flood has increased at Bapughat, Attapur, Puranapool, Chaderghat and Moosarambagh. With this, the GHMC has alerted the people of the Musi catchment areas.

Heavy flood waters reached the 100 foot road in Jiyaguda after the gates of the twin reservoirs were lifted. Due to this, the authorities closed the road. Traffic on the Jiyaguda-Puranapool route came to a standstill. In this order, vehicles going from Puranapool to the High Court were diverted from the caravan. Meanwhile, on the Moosarambagh bridge too, the bridge was closed as the Musi river was flowing violently.

Officials say that the bridge pillars were completely damaged due to the flood. Traffic on the Amberpet and Dilsukhnagar routes came to a standstill. Due to this, passengers are facing severe difficulties.  (Maxim News)
