This month marks the end of Bhadrapada and the beginning of Ashwayuja in the Hindu calendar. Along with major cultural and religious celebrations, September will also bring several holidays.

September 2 – Ram Dev Jayanti, celebrated mainly in Rajasthan, this day honors Saint Ramdevji. Special pujas are held in temples, traditional food is prepared, and devotees offer new clothes to wooden horse idols. A grand fair is organized near his samadhi sthal.
September 3 – Ekadashi, On this day, devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayana and observe fasting for spiritual well-being.
September 4 – Onam & Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Onam: Kerala’s most prominent festival, symbolizing happiness, prosperity, unity, and brotherhood, will be celebrated with grandeur.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi: A significant Islamic festival marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the founder of Islam. It is also known as Milad.
September 5 – Teachers’ Day, a day to honor educators. Schools celebrate with special events, and students often take on the role of teachers in a fun tradition.
September 6 – Ganesh Immersion & Anant Chaturdashi
Ganesh idols will be immersed with devotion across the country. Anantha Chaturdashi is also observed, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity and happiness.
September 7 – Lunar Eclipse: A celestial event to watch for astronomy enthusiasts and spiritual followers alike.
September 8 – Start of Pitru Paksha. A 15-day period for offering prayers and food to ancestors begins. Devotees perform rituals to honor their forefathers.
September 21 – Mahalaya Amavasya & Solar Eclipse
Mahalaya Amavasya marks an important day in Pitru Paksha rituals. A solar eclipse will also occur on the same day.
September 22 – Dussehra, Sharannavaratri & Bathukamma Begin. Nine days of Sharannavaratri celebrations start, and Telangana will come alive with the colorful Bathukamma festival.
September 29 – Saraswati Puja (Moola Nakshatra). Dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom and learning.
