Internet, July 26: Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched drone and missile attacks targeting Saudi Arabia’s Aramco oil facilities in Yanbu and Jizan, claiming the strikes were in retaliation for Saudi airstrikes on Yemen, according to Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree.
The attacks come amid escalating tensions in West Asia, where Saudi Arabia has reportedly carried out airstrikes on the strategic Red Sea port of Hodeidah as regional security concerns continue to grow.
The Houthis said the strikes targeted Saudi energy infrastructure and reiterated their pledge to disrupt shipping in the Red Sea until the blockade on Yemen is lifted.
The rebel group also announced plans to block Saudi linked shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, raising concerns over the security of one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes.
The latest developments have heightened fears of further disruption to global shipping and trade passing through the Red Sea.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called for dialogue to resolve the Yemen conflict, urging all parties to pursue a political solution instead of military confrontation.
