Human Remains Found in SLBC Tunnel as Rescue Efforts Intensify
Hyderabad, Mar 9 (Maxim News): Rescue teams have discovered human remains inside the partially collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing operation.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with workers from other agencies, identified two key locations inside the tunnel using cadaver dogs and seismology studies. While excavating one of these sites, teams uncovered what is believed to be the mutilated remains of one of the missing workers.
This discovery has slowed down the manual excavation, as rescue teams proceed with extreme caution to safely retrieve the remains. Work at the second site, also pinpointed by cadaver dogs from Kerala, is expected to take a few more hours to reach similar depths.
Challenging Rescue Efforts
Conditions inside the tunnel remain extremely difficult, with heavy debris, water accumulation, and thick muck complicating the operation. Despite these obstacles, teams are using advanced technologies like Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to detect any further signs of human presence.
State Disaster Management Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar has been closely monitoring the progress. Authorities have also planned to deploy robots from March 11 to assist with debris removal and enhance safety for rescue workers.
With the operation reaching a critical stage, all efforts are now focused on the two specific locations identified inside the tunnel. Rescue teams remain determined to complete their mission, ensuring the safe retrieval of any remaining victims. (Maxim News)
