Hyderabad Court Sentences Man to Jail for Harassing Elderly Parents

Hyderabad, May 22 (Maxim News): A Hyderabad court has sentenced a 44 year old man to two months imprisonment for allegedly harassing and ill treating his elderly parents within the limits of Narayanguda Police Station.

According to police officials, the convicted person was identified as G. Srinivas, a resident of Narayanguda in Hyderabad. Police said he had been repeatedly harassing his aged parents, causing mental and emotional distress to them.

Based on a complaint lodged by the elderly couple, the Narayanguda Police registered a case against Srinivas under Section 70B of the City Police Act and Section 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The investigation was conducted by Sub Inspector J. Srikanth Reddy of Narayanguda Police Station. Police officials said the investigating officer collected strong evidence and produced the accused before the Hon’ble V Special Judicial Magistrate Court at Nampally in Hyderabad.

After examining the facts, witness statements, and evidence presented in STC No.1780/2026, the court found the accused guilty of the offences.

Hon’ble Judge Sri M. Bhasker sentenced the accused to undergo two months imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.50.

Police identified the convicted individual as G. Srinivas, son of G. Dayanand, aged 44 years, who was employed in a private job and residing in Narayanguda.

Following the judgment, Narayanguda Police reiterated their commitment towards the protection and safety of senior citizens. Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found harassing, abusing, or abandoning elderly parents.

Police urged senior citizens facing harassment from family members to approach nearby police stations without fear and seek legal assistance.

Officials stated that the judgment sends a strong message that abuse of elderly parents would not be tolerated and offenders would face strict punishment under the law.
